In a Nutshell

I am a licensed clinical psychologist who works to improve people's lives by helping them heal from interpersonal injury and the self-harm of fear, doubt, loathing and despair. I pursue this goal through direct clinical work, executive coaching, training and consultation, program evaluation, forensic evaluations, program development, and public education through podcasts and YouTube.

Clinical Practice

Note: I am completely virtual at the moment. I provide psychotherapy through a faculty practice at Mount Sinai Behavioral Health Center. I see children, youth, adults, and families across the age range and for a variety of issues.

Executive Coaching

I work with executives and professionals who want to improve their ability to manage stress and mitigate the impact of a fear-based thinking through social-emotional authenticity and awareness.

Training

I provide training on trauma-informed practices throughout NYC and across the country. See the training page for a list of current and past trainings.

Academic/Hospital Work

For my day job, I serve as the Director of the Center for Child Trauma and Resilience and Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. I supervise and teach psychiatry residents and psychology interns in trauma-informed treatment. The Center is currently funded through a variety of grants and contracts:

  1. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration's “National Child Traumatic Stress Initiative” service grant, through which we are spreading trauma-informed therapy across the Mount Sinai Health System’s child psychiatry outpatient clinics and service programs.

  2. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration's “Enhancement and Expansion of Treatment and Recovery Services for Adolescents, Transitional Aged Youth, and their Families” service grant, through which we are creating trauma-informed substance abuse groups for adolescents treated through the Child and Family Institute at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s.

  3. The Criminal Justice Investment Initiative out of the Manhattan District Attorney’s office, through which we operate two program evaluation projects (one for newly developed Crime Victims Treatment Centers for young men of color and the transgender population and the other for the development of the CJII Center for Trauma Innovation).
